Download PICSimLab for macOS
New in v0.9.3: PICSimLab v0.9.3 (released 20 September 2026) is the first release to ship native macOS .dmg builds — one for Intel Macs (x86_64) and one for Apple Silicon Macs (arm64). Earlier releases had no official macOS package at all. Download the build that matches your Mac below; both files are the official release files hosted on GitHub, listed with size and SHA-256 checksum.
PICSimLab Hub is an independent, unofficial community resource site. It is not affiliated with the PICSimLab project. All download buttons on this page link to the official PICSimLab v0.9.3 release files hosted on GitHub. PICSimLab is free, open-source software (GPL-2.0) by Luis Claudio Gamboa Lopes.

Not sure which Mac you have? Open the Apple menu and choose “About This Mac”. If it lists an Apple M-series chip, download the arm64 build; if it lists an Intel processor, download the x86_64 build. (The version numbers inside the official file names are part of the file names as published by the project.)
Install overview
- Download the .dmg for your Mac and, if you want, verify it against the SHA-256 in the table above.
- Open the .dmg and drag PICSimLab into your Applications folder, as with other Mac apps.
- Open PICSimLab from Applications. The first time you open an app downloaded from the internet, macOS may ask you to confirm that you want to open it — this is standard macOS behaviour for downloaded apps. If a double-click does not open it, right-click (or Control-click) the app and choose Open, then confirm. You can also check System Settings → Privacy & Security for an “Open Anyway” option after a blocked first attempt.
- Pick a development board and load a compiled
.hexfile to start simulating. PICSimLab does not edit or compile source code; build your firmware in MPLAB X, the Arduino IDE, or VS Code with PlatformIO, just as for real hardware.

macOS FAQ
Is there really a native macOS version now?
Yes. Native macOS support arrived with v0.9.3: the official release includes two .dmg files, for Intel (x86_64) and Apple Silicon (arm64). The macOS port was contributed by community contributors, per the project README.
Which .dmg do I need for an M1, M2, M3 or M4 Mac?
The arm64 build (PICSimLab_0.9.3_260920_macOS_26.6.2_arm64.dmg). All Apple Silicon Macs use the arm64 build; the x86_64 build is for Intel-based Macs.
macOS says the app cannot be opened. What do I do?
That message is macOS Gatekeeper reacting to an app downloaded from the internet — the standard response is to right-click (or Control-click) the app in Applications and choose Open, then confirm in the dialog. This is a general macOS step for downloaded apps, not something specific to PICSimLab. Only open files whose SHA-256 matches the table above, so you know the download is the genuine release file.
What are the system requirements?
The PICSimLab project does not publish official minimum system requirements (no official CPU, memory or macOS-version figures), so this site does not list any. What is certain from the release itself: there are separate Intel and Apple Silicon builds, as tabled above.
Is this the official PICSimLab website?
No. This is an independent, unofficial community site. Official PICSimLab downloads are distributed only via GitHub and SourceForge (project name “picsim”). The buttons on this page link straight to the official GitHub release files.
